Do our tears matter to God? Join us for this healing watercolor workshop that reminds us that God sees, knows, and loves us dearly, and that our hidden tears do not go unnoticed by Him. No special skills or materials needed. You can do this artwork and feel the healing benefits that it brings you.

"I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping." Psalm 6:6

Can you relate to this Psalm?

Does it feel like no one could possibly know how many years you have shed over the loss of your loved one?

David prays in Psalm 13,

How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my heart all day long?

Sometimes in our heartache, it can feel like God has forgotten us or hidden His face from us.

It's okay to be honest about these feelings and to share them with God.

But this feeling is not the truth.

In this workshop, we will remind ourselves of the truth:

  • That the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. (Psalm 34:18)

  • That He collects our tears in a bottle. (Psalm 56:8)

  • That He is working all things together for our good. (Romans 8:28)

Here's what you'll need

Please note: usually, my art coaching workshops allow for any colorful medium - crayons, colored pencils, markers - but this one is specifically going to use watercolors.

  • Watercolor paints - even the small, inexpensive sets you can find in the grocery store or your local art supply store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby are fine. You'll want a set that has a variety of colors, not a monochromatic or neutral palette.

  • Crayons - you'll need a white crayon and a second crayon of any other color that you like.

  • You will want to have watercolor paper (which you can also find at the art supply store).

  • Your set will probably come with a paint brush, but if it doesn't, you'll want one of those, too. For this project a bigger brush is better to cover more paper with each stroke, so if you're choosing a brush, you don't want a very thin one, but anything that you have will be fine.

  • A glass of water

  • If you're not sure about choosing your own materials, click here for an inexpensive set on Amazon that comes with paint, brushes, and watercolor paper with fast shipping for Prime members. It has everything you need (except the water and crayons).

Don't worry about your artistic ability

You do not have to be an artist to do this!

There are no special art skills needed

It's the process of being creative while we meditate on these topics that makes lasting changes in our hearts and minds. The simple artwork helps to do the heart work!

"...he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
