The Sorrowful Way – A Lenten Journal for Mothers who have Experienced Pregnancy or Child Loss

The Sorrowful Way, sometimes called the Via Dolorosa – is the path in Jerusalem on which Christ carried His cross to Calvary.

This journal invites loss mothers to walk this path with Our Lady, exploring one of her Seven Sorrows each week of Lent and allowing her to teach us to carry our own crosses with faith, hope, and love. Even this heavy cross of child loss.

With reflections, scriptures, prayers, writing prompts, and quotes from the Saints for each day, The Sorrowful Way journal helps us to unite our suffering to that of Jesus and His Mother this Lent, and to find that therein lies a balm for our broken hearts.

"It was truly an answer to prayers. I had a miscarriage in December and really desired some kind of retreat or time away with God to heal. Our diocese doesn’t have much for a miscarriage ministry at this point and there was nothing in my area. I yearned for a miscarriage retreat but everything was in the US (I live in Canada) and I gave that yearning to God and he answered with your retreat book.

I felt heard and understood and really ready for my Easter resurrection with that loss. Thank you."

The Sorrowful Way

for mothers who have experienced pregnancy or child loss

We'll use my Lenten journal, The Sorrowful Way, and meet together live weekly for prayer, discussion, and support. Each week of Lent, we'll focus on one of Mary's seven sorrows and relate them to our own experiences of child loss, looking to her example to help us grow in faith, hope, and love.

Retreat kicks off Tuesday, February 17th from 11 am to noon Eastern, then meets Wednesday mornings at the same time thereafter, through the Wednesday of Holy Week.
